You're going to get more than just a web designer who knows the programs and code. In addition to my skills, I can manage a small team and a department workload, mentor teammates, lead change, represent a department in meetings, give presentations, and more. I've been doing this since 2001.

Please review my skills and avoid just scanning for keywords. It saves us both time when you know up front exactly where I'm strongest (and where I'm not).

I live and work in New Jersey

I live in Pompton Lakes, NJ (near Wayne) and would prefer working in northern New Jersey. Commuting into NYC (Manhattan) is a little farther than I'd like to go five days a week. For this reason I'm not considering contract or consulting jobs located in NYC.

I am most interested in full-time work

My focus is on keeping a full-time design position as a salaried employee, though I'm open to the idea of a contract position if the work and location are spot on.

Interested in freelance work?

Please be aware that I don't freelance full-time

I hold a day job Mon - Fri and do not work all week on freelance projects. Like you, I also have a life outside of working.

Please don't simply ask what my rate is

It's a popular question indeed, but if this is your primary concern I'm probably not the guy you want to work with. There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Costs can vary depending on the complexity of the work involved. The best bet would be to send me some project and budget details so we can get a conversation started.

Please give me an indication of how much you have to spend

Knowing an approximate budget up front helps me figure how much time can be dedicated on a project, and subsequently how much work I can fit into the time quota.

Please explain how you know me

Having some kind of referral helps your email stand out from someone coming from Google or a job board. Whether you know me from a social site, were referred by a friend, or are someone I've met before, it shows that you're genuinely interested in me and my work.

I see low-hanging fruit on most websites, believe code is sometimes poetry, and feel that details make the design. I think any interface would be better if there were less of it.

I like building findable websites with ≡ POSH , sometimes tweet, and network professionally on LinkedIn.
